AMD Radeon RX 6800M graphics card shows up online alongside a Ryzen 9 5900HX processor in an Asus laptop
AMD is yet to unveil the mobile versions of its RX 6000 series of graphics cards. It is hardly surprising that AMD is taking its sweet time with it, considering the lukewarm response to previous-generation RX 5000 series mobile GPUs, which only found their way into a handful of laptops. A new leak now sheds light on some key RX 6800M specifications and also tells us about an upcoming Asus gaming laptop.
Veteran leaker @TUM_APISAK happened to stumble upon an Asus ROG Strix laptop running a Ryzen 9 5900HX processor and an AMD Radeon RX 6800M graphics card. It confirms speculations from earlier, which prophesized that it would come with 12GB of VRAM on a 192-bit bus. It is also expected to run a full-fat Navi 22 GPU with 40 CUs. The yet-to-be-announced Asus notebook will also feature a 15.3-inch FHD screen clocked at 60Hz, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and two 1TB NVMe SSDs.
Performance-wise, we can expect the AMD Radeon RX 6800M to trade blows with the desktop Radeon RX 6700 XT and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. The maxed-out RX 6800M variant is expected to draw 145W of power. There are lower-specced versions, too, which will probably be rated at around ~100W TGP.
