A dream for Star Trek fans: The 3D-printed Borg Cube Case for the Raspberry Pi 4
It is a regular occurrence that the dedicated fan community of the Raspberry Pi releases new and creative projects for the ultra popular single-board computer, which can be turned into almost anything. No matter if it is a mobile laboratory or a working replica of the TV from The Simpsons, the Raspberry Pi can do it all. An ingenious member of the Raspberry Pi community has now created a visually impressive case, that may not have a specific purpose, but just looks really cool.
Star Trek fans will immediately identify the design of the cube case at first glance. Like the name already indicates, the Borg Cube Case resembles the menacing angular spaceships of the Borg, who are best known for their fondness for the assimilation of other life forms. Now the Raspberry Pi 4 (from US$95 on Amazon) can find its place in one of these iconic objects of the beloved Star Trek universe.
From a practical point of view, the case features easy access to the microSD card slot at the front of the cube, and furthermore there is enough room to install a 50mm fan at the top of the case. If equipped with green LEDs, the fan can create the authentic Star Trek look. Unfortunately, you cannot buy the Borg Cube Case for the Raspberry Pi 4, probably also due to licensing and legal reasons. However, the creator of this eye-catching case has made the according schematics and files for 3D printers available as a free download.
