16GB Nexus 7 sells out on Google Play Store

Teaser
Google’s hottest item can no longer be purchased from the Play Store due to insufficient stock

Ever since launched late last month, Google’s Nexus 7 tablet has been the hottest ticket on most wish lists, mainly due to its minimal size and price tag. Unfortunately, it looks like eager shoppers will now have to wait a while to get their hands on the tablet, as the Play Store appears to have temporarily run out of stock.

Google had previously updated their Play Store to indicate a 3-4 week shipping delay for the Nexus 7, and now they’ve changed it once more to reflect the absence of supplies. Users in the US and UK that head to the 16GB Nexus 7 page are welcomed by an ominous “Coming Soon” along with an invitation to sign up for email notifications upon availability.

Surprisingly, the 8GB version of the tablet seems to have been spared this sad fate, as it is still listed as “In Stock” with a 3-5 day delivery period. Interestingly enough, many customers have reported availability of the tablet at their local retailers (Best Buy, Staples, etc…), even though most online stores are indeed back-ordered. As such, if the itch for the Nexus 7 is too hard to ignore, heading over to your local gadget shop may be a commendable idea, although as always- user mileage may vary.
