The flagship Xiaomi 15 series was introduced in China last October. The lineup currently consists of three devices: the standard Xiaomi 15, the 15 Pro, and the 15 Ultra. The highlight of the standard Xiaomi 15 is its compact design with a 6.36-inch display and flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Now there is a new leak revealing details of its successor: the Xiaomi 16.
The leak comes from tipster Smart Pikachu on the Chinese social media site Weibo. The tipster hints that the Xiaomi 16 will retain a compact design. Moreover, the tipster suggests that it will be the first phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset.
As of now, Qualcomm has not revealed any information about its next-gen flagship chipset. According to leaks and rumors, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2's GPU will have 16 MB of cache. Moreover, the chip may also feature faster LPDDR6 or LPDDR5X memory. Compared to its predecessor, the chip is expected to deliver approximately 30% and 25% improvements in GPU and CPU performance, respectively.
The Xiaomi 16 may also feature a large 6,800mAh battery with 100W fast charging support. For comparison, the Xiaomi 15 (curr. $1,059 on Amazon) has a 5,240mAh battery. While the recently launched OnePlus 13T with a 6.32-inch display features a 6,260mAh battery capacity.
According to the tipster, the Xiaomi 16 will launch in September. However, all this information should be taken with a pinch of salt as nothing is confirmed officially yet.
